Cooling System - Radiator: At highway speeds, airflow helps cool the radiator. However, at low speeds or when idling, a Radiator Fan helps provide the air flow needed to reduce coolant temperatures. The radiator fan is an essential part of a car's cooling system.
A radiator fan must be able to tolerate the high temperatures emitted from an engine, while at the same time be resistant to corrosive chemicals such as the coolant used in a radiator. Nylon-based plastic's ability to withstand high temperatures allows the radiator fan to maintain its integrity without any substantial warping that might decrease the airflow to the radiator. Nylon's light weight and design flexibility allows radiator fans to be built from a minimum of parts with substantial savings in weight for the manufacturer.
